FLUX FRIDAY!

Feliz de Friday Flux Fans!  It is the last day of September and we are officially falling into Fall–the season between summer livin and winter wonderland– the season of waiting.  Autumn is the time to amp up, gear up, and start seriously thinking about snowboarding.

Flux riders Erik Leon and Ian Sams took a trip last season from Crestline, CA to Stevens Pass, WA and back— known only as Van Delirium.  It was wild…it was trippy…and I wouldn’t expect anything less from these guys.  They are awesome.  On the Van Delirium, they contemplated– ”Why do we snowboard? Why do we care why we snowboard? If we care about why we snowboard, then are we really focusing on what matters most? What does matter the most? Why wouldn’t we just go snowboarding for the sake of snowboarding?”

So, for the sake of snowboarding… this is episode 1 of their trip :

Didn’t we say these guys are awesome?  So awesome that Ian won $25,000 in the SME video contest that was announced at Hot Dawgs last weekend!!  A big congrats goes out to him– he will be livin cheesy this winter! Check out the video that got him the win by CLICKING HERE!

Besides winning more cash than the actual winners of the contest– Ian laid down some gnarly tricks at Hot Dawgs.  The weather was perfect, the set up was huge, and Flux riders were killing it.  If you didn’t make it, the event was very well documented.  Snowboarder Magazine and Transworld Snowboard Magazine all captured the moment well, while we got some sweet shots of our Flux team.  Stay tuned for the video–coming soon.

Yuma Abe and Kataro Kamimura flew out from Japan just for Hot Dawgs—Why weren’t you there?

Jaeger Bailey was head over heels about his first ever Hot Dawgs experience….

So was Cody Boan…..  Newly rockin the RK30s.

Chris Brewster came all the way from Alaska and showed us some tricks that made his “Ammo” part especially epic.

Scotty Vine, Scotty Vine… always a good time…

 

On the otherside of the globe, the YES crew premiered their movie in Chile and Jake Koia premiered “Given’s, ‘One.’”  in his hometown of Queenstown.  The movies was just as good there as it was here… but they were in a these rad places and  just had more Red Bulls. Hot Dawgs and handrails was—-as always—- a really good time.

Congratulations goes out to Ian Sams for winning $25,000 in the SME video contest–announced at Hot Dawgs! With that much money in the bank he will be livin in style this season!  Watch the winning footage here!

Happy Friday Flux Fans!!!

If you haven’t heard of the annual Hot Dawgs and Handrails–going down tomorrow– you must be living on a different planet!

Tomorrow at Bear Mountain, they are pulling in tons and tons and tons of snow to make a sweet snow set up.  Invited riders like Chris Brewster, Scotty Vine, Jaeger Bailey, Chad Tarbell, Ryan Tarbell, and Ian Sams all get to take on the set up for a chance to win $15,000!!

Fluxing Fantastic….

This past weekend, snowboarders took over the OC as “Given” was premiered in Laguna Beach Friday, September 16.  A lot of people came out to the old theater to watch some good old fashion snow slashin and ridiculous rail riding.

Snow movies should play in theaters more often–everyone was having a good time.

A big congratulations goes out to Zac Marben for having a wildly successful first art show!    From the small detailed doodles of black pen on white paper, to the big brush strokes of some of his larger pieces—Zac’s creative energy shown through!  A definite favorite was his enlarged polaroid photos on a wood backing.   Zacs art, set alongside some awesome musicians, a vibin crowd and complementary brews was a great time! Keep the art alive Zac!

If you are in SoCal, Laguna is the place to be this weekend!  Tonight, ‘Givin’ presents “One,” starring Flux riders Cody Rosenthal and Jake Koia at Regency Laguna, South Coast Cinema. Take a look at the teaser and check the poster for a premier in your neck of the woods.  It looks like it is going to be rad.

 

 

Jake Koia shows us around his motherland, Queenstown, New Zealand, in this video put out by Red Bull.  He is rockin the new DMCC-lights.  Maybe that’s why he is flying so high.  CLICK HERE to see the video.

 

Not only does Zac Marben get creative on the snow, he gets artsy on canvas too.  This Saturday Zac is  holding his own art show!  If his art is as good as his other skills, you won’t want to miss this.

Zac also just got an invitation to the Burton Rail Days, set to be held in the middle of the busy streets of Tokyo on November 19^th.   That gives you plenty of time to get your passport and a ticket overseas—right? Just throwing it out there…

 

If city riding isn’t your style, you should check out JP Solberg in Twe12ve.   This is the kind of snow that we could only slash in our wildest dreams.  He really is doing it big.  Check out the teaser for a taste of what the whole Absinthe movie is about.

Dave Wilderotter started Tahoe Dave’s Skis & Boards in 1977 at the Henrikson building in Tahoe City. Dave had a small room, 15 pair of skis, a workbench and an immense desire to “have a good time and stay out of jail.” (Which still applies today.) Since Dave couldn’t afford to pay rent for his new business and a place to live, he did the only thing he could. He made a make shift bedroom above the bathroom in the ski shop. And the rest is history.

We are not the shop that is too cool to talk to our customers. All of our employees have been geeking out on snowboards since they could walk and we love to share what we know. We are most known for our attention to detail when it comes to fitting people in the perfect boots. That attention to detail also spreads to every other aspect of winter gear including the employee favorite Flux Bindings.
