Happy Friday! The last Friday of 2011!! Flux has done a lot of good things this season and we are looking forward to an exciting 2012. We are smack dab in the middle of winter. And no snow!? Come on everyone…. Do the snow dance!

Started in 1994 in Mountain View, CA (Northern California) as a small skate and snowboard shop with the intention of selling the products we carried by mail order(before the internet). We sent out our first 36 page black and white photocopied catalog in 1994 to 10,000 people. Things went pretty well in the early days and with a few bumps along the road we expanded to a second shop and warehouse in 1996. At this same time we put up our website, which I believe was one of the first retail snow and skate websites ever. In 1998 we wanted to be closer to the mountains so we moved the whole business to Sparks/Reno, NV which is only 20-40 minutes from Lake Tahoe and some of the best snowboard/ski resorts in the world. The 98/99 season was also the first time we actually started selling on the internet all while our Catalog/Mail Order business continued to grow. In the last decade we have gone from one store to two and then to three in the Spark/Reno area. Now we are back to two shops one in Reno and our Warehouse/Retail shop in Sparks. Also during this time our internet business has obviously grown to surpass our mail order business but we still send out our 64 page catalog to over a 150,000 customers.

Our shop is special because since we have a really strong internet presence we can carry a ton of product especially some of the more unique and hard to find items from the best Snowboard Brands in the world. You won’t find a shop anywhere in the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe area that has a better selection of snowboard products. We also have a very knowledgeable friendly staff that have been with us for as long as 15 years. Everyone that works at our shops snowboards as much as they can and since we are so close to Tahoe are lucky enough to test most of the products we carry on a regular basis.

Markass took off a week for Christmas, but that didn’t stop them from putting together this edit of funny clips.  My favorite of course… that kid….. 

The first stop of the winter Dew tour kicked off and our Flux team was out there doing their best on the slopestyle course to get their name on the top of the new TTR list.  Raelynd Tarnove, Madison Blackley, Lynn Neil, Spencer Link, Scott Vine, and Eric Willett all did great! Congrats on the first contest!  Eric Willett sent this photo of him getting interviewed at the event:

After the Dew Tour was finished, the Nike Chosen event went off! Congratulations to Scott Vine for winning best trick with a frontside 3 and to Madison Blackley for winning best style with her half cab onto the down rail!

Kyle Loppicolo hosted ‘Ditch Day’ at Mountain High!  Flux’s excellent Erik Leon took 3^rd at the contest for this steeeeezy tail press on the down flat down! Check it out….

It’s been a long week but we have finally made it to Friday!

We started out the week with Bear Mountain’s ‘Sunday in the park’ featuring a few shots from Flux rider Chad Tarbell. Keoni was also out there sporting his fresh TT30s.  Were stoked to see what comes around this Sunday funday. CLICK HERE TO SEE EPISODE 2 OF SUNDAY IN THE PARK. 

 

One way to get rid of that case of the Monday’s is to tune into Mark ass Mondays.  This week’s episode has some on mountain mischief and some secret spot rail shinnanigans.  The Tarbells tear up the jib pipe that was just put in at Bear. Have you seen it yet? Yupp…It’s a lot of fun…..

Eric Willett made his way across the seas to Beijing, China!  If you haven’t seen this huge set-up in the Olympic Birdsnest you should really check out this footage. Jaeger Bailey and Mitch Richmond have staked their spot in Mammoth for the season. We are stoked for them to shred the enormous, pow-filled wonderland.  They already came out with this epic edit of the first few shred sessions. CLICK HERE TO SEE IT!!
